A little taste of Peru ... but the desert might suck!

I have decided to take some time out of my busy graveyard shift and post some pictures of Peru. When Ashley get back I'm sure you'll get more!
Day 1: Lima, Peru
Elevation: 0 ft Population: 7.6 million Ash and I in a Peruvian mall
Plaza de Armas
Cool picture of a cathedral
Day 2
We spent the day going to the temple with President Elmer and the missionaries that were going home. It was an awesome experience!
We also went to a place where the catholics would torture and kill people who refused to become catholic. Its part of what is called the spanish inquisition... UH?! I mean it's called being Christ's true church. (I'm being sarcastic, hope that doesnt offend anyone)
Day 3
We went to a cultural dance thing
Ashley swears she would wear that skirt
Grumpy old peruvian frownie face manDay 4: Cuzco also spelled Qosqo
Elevation: 10912 ft (about 1000ft lower than Mt. Timp in Utah) Population: 300,000
This is Qorikancha. Outlined in red is an original wall built by the Incan indians and then the church on top of the wall was built by the catholics.
Yes, you can say Sexy woman.
Saqsaywaman ruins.
Day 5
More ruins

As you can see the alpacas are very scared of Ashley

"...when thou art converted, feed my llamas" Dang, Mom you are going to be mad at me... I cant rememebr the name of this city. Picka, Pasca, Paca, Pacha???
The Peruvian delicacy, home grown... literally on the floor of your home where you sleep and eat and cook and raise your kids.
Ashley hooking up with some guy she met on myspace...creepy!!!
Day 6: Machu Picchu (which is actually a contemporary name not the actualy indian name)Elevation: 7875 ft Population: However many turists come that day

Circled in red is the mountain top we hiked to.

Gate to the City. How did they get those huge rocks up there? We made it to the top after an hour of climbing stairs stright up the side of the mountain. I think it should be renamed...The stairway to heaven, yeah it was that long, that hard!
We were barely hanging on to the edge with our fingertips. Don't worry Dave! We were ok!

Machu Picchu from Waynipicchu

We decided to bring back with us as much of Peru as we could. Day 7: Cuzco

Sunday, finally a day we got to rest Day 8: Pirka, Peru

Elevation: Lower than Cuzco Population: 50

Before we got to Prika we stopped at a village and chaos erupted when candy was handed out to the kids. The beautiful city of PirkaThe welcoming band of Pirka

Ashley showing her sweet dance moves to the people and lets just say I dont think they are ready for that yet! The dance lasted a good hour and probably would have lasted longer... a lot longer. The women of Pirka
Day 9

The men helped all day building a much needed fence that will be used to keep the wild animals out of the soon to be 100 peach trees. I heard the women did worked for like 20 min and that was it!!!

That night we all gathered around to watch Starwars IV on my Dad's laptop. Just kidding, my Dad used his laptop to show them pictures taken earlier that day. That night was easily mine and Ashley's favorite night of the whole trip.

Day 10
Ashley getting her cowgirl on!

Oil, matches, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, hand soap, detergent, and salt were divided up to give to each family in the villiage.

Sugar was also handed out to each family

lankets were given out the the kids and the widows. and candy
New clothes for the workers.
And toys

We stopped at another village to give out the rest of what we had. Day 11

Back in Cuzco and then to Lima for the day.

Day 12

Back to the statesNeedless to say it was the trip of a life time! I was so proud of my Ashes for camping out for 2 nights when she wouldn't even go to girls camp. Thank you Dad & Mom for letting us have this opportunity.
